Michael and I in front of Cathedral Rock in Sedona

My husband Michael works for a global company. We live in Phoenix, Arizona and have a home in Sedona, Arizona where I lived for 13 years before I met Michael. Even before we married 5+ years ago, we started talking about living abroad. Michael’s company provides opportunities for their employees to work around the globe, and we both love to travel. When a temporary job opened in Rome and it was offered to Michael, we quickly agreed, yes! let’s go live in Roma. I took a leave of absence from my job as a social worker at a major healthcare provider in Phoenix, and we left our homes, cars, cat (Isis) and stuff in Arizona for this adventure in Italy.

My blog is an attempt to share with friends, family, coworkers and interested others, a bit of our experience. We are so grateful for the opportunity. Thanks for letting me share it with you.

Our original 6 month stay was extended, and we’re here for an additional year, or more…only time will tell! The house in Phoenix is under contract for sale, I left my job, and all of our stuff is stored in the home in Sedona. Isis the kitty went to live with the wonderful and amazing neighbors next door in Phoenix, and continues to be alive and well.

The adventures continue!

  1. Hi Gerrie,
I love your blog. I came to it via Italian Notebook today and I would love to follow you but unfortunately word press says the link to follow is expired. Could you please help? Thanks so much.

  2. Hi Gerrie,
As a dyed-in-the-wool Tucsonan, “Phoenician” is usually a dirty word in my househod, 🙂 but I enjoy following your posts very much. Ciao.
